How Can We Protect Enough Biodiversity to Sustain Life on Earth?


To sustain life on Earth, countries around the world have committed to protecting 17% of the planet’s land area. This means we need more than one million square miles of new protected areas, a total area larger than India. Scientists and policymakers are asking: How do we achieve this ambitious goal? And how do we do it in a way that respects the way people in these places live?
